I got a bunch of stuff for sale

What to do with all the stuff? Take it or leave it? Two options.

When thinking about moving from one continent to another one also has to think about the rearrangement of household goods. This rearrangement results in a monetary burden that must be weighed well. Or more understandably formulated: When moving, don't take open flour bags with you, throw them away beforehand. Likewise, it is advisable not to store wet laundry in the washing machine, as this makes it much more difficult to carry the same. Of course, it is even easier if you no longer have either the open flour or the potentially full washing machine in stock.

The value of household goods

So that brings me to the actual point of this article: Household goods - or domestic garbage. In view of the fact that the overseas transport of things in a filled container made of weatherproof steel costs almost 5000 to 6000 euros, one cleans out beforehand. In the process, one makes the experience that things are basically worth nothing once they have been touched with one's own hands. At any rate, you sometimes get that idea when you look at the ratings of the relevant online buyers and sellers.

If you know me, you also knows the selection of more or less literary effusions that fill our shelves and cupboards. This part of the household has one thing above all: weight. Accordingly, many of these objects must of necessity change hands. Likewise decoration, clothing as well as DVDs and the meanwhile probably antiquated VHS or CDs. But what is the best way to sell household goods?

I think there are two options

  1. Flea Market
  2. Internet

Of course, I've been looking into this a bit more recently and would like to share my acquired half-knowledge about selling household goods with you. So here you go:

Sell household goods in the internet

Let's take a look at the latter area first. This is quite manageable, as the Internet is easy for anyone to grasp and is also incredibly well structured. After some research on the net, I come to the following results in the evaluation of various sales providers.

The following information is provided without warranty and all information is current as of the date of publication of this article.

AbeBooks

Only for commercial sellers and not for private sellers. For a monthly listing fee, which depends on the number of titles posted online, books are listed on AbeBooks websites worldwide. A listing can be found here..

Amazon

Amazon deducts a sales fee (percentage of item price, varies by category), a variable closing fee (only when selling books, music, videos, DVDs, software, and video games), and a sales fee of EUR 0.99 per item (excluding VAT) when the seller sells in the Single Seller selling plan.
If the seller sells in the sales tariff Professional, there is no sales fee per item. Instead, a monthky fee of 39.00 EUR (excluding VAT) is charged.

Booklooker

There are two variants here. With variant A you get a good price, but you pay a sales commission. Only in case of a successful sale, a sales commission of 6.9% (plus VAT) is due. Example: At a selling price of 10 EUR the commission is 0,69 EUR. In addition 19% VAT of 0.69 EUR, which results in a total commission of 0.82 EUR.Variant B is same as with Rebuy and momox. You give the ISBN code and the colleagues give a book value. There are no fees here.

Ebay

There are no listing fees for 300 listings per month - regardless of listing duration or listing format. Excluded are offers in the following categories:

  • Vehicles, boats and aircraft
  • Mobile phone contracts
  • Advertisements

The sales commission is a uniform 10% of the sales price excluding packaging and shipping (max. 199.00 euros). Furthermore, you can pimp your contributions with various additional options.

EBay Kleinanzeigen

Free of charge
However, there are various options you can highlight your posts with and make them more prominent.

momox

Free of charge. By scanning the ISBN code one gets a suggested price. One receives a free shipping label for sending the goods from a value of 10€. One should always compare momox and rebuy, because there are strongly divergent ratings.

Rebuy

Free of charge. By scanning the ISBN code one gets a suggested price. One receives a free shipping label for sending the goods from a value of 10€. One should always compare momox and rebuy, because there are strongly divergent ratings.

shpock

Free of charge. In my opinion, the advantage of this provider is the regional connection. You can advertise directly in the area and save shipping costs.

ZVAB

Only for commercial sellers and not for private sellers. For a monthly

Sell household goods on the flea market

If you don't like the world of bits and bytes and don't have a social phobia, then the good old flea market is a wonderful way to get rid of even the most crappy household goods.

In our beautiful Leipzig there are surprisingly many flea markets. Before I have dealt with it, I had no idea what a lousy city that is actually. I have also applied here once my 4 semesters of journalism and researched for you in the following overview of the next Leipzig flea markets and worked up. There are also the next dates and prices. At some of them we will probably even perform ourselves.
